Eight years later the V10 was resurrected, enlarged, and developed for Porsche’s LMP2000 Le Mans prototype. That program was also cancelled after two days of testing in 1999. Rather than shelve the engine a second time, Porsche adapted the 5.7-liter V10 for road use in the Carrera GT.

It is not a practical swap candidate for any other application due to its unique mounting architecture, dry sump system, and ECU integration. Any work on this engine requires Porsche Exclusive or certified independent Carrera GT specialists.

Transmission compatibility: Porsche 6-speed manual gearbox (specific to Carrera GT) with twin-plate Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch (PCCC) and limited-slip differential. The PCCC is vehicle-specific and not interchangeable with standard Porsche clutch systems.
